Our World with AHC
Aubrey is one of an estimated 30 Canadians who suffer from an ultra-rare and devastating neurological disorder called Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood (AHC). Each day AHC threatens Aubrey, and children like her, with the risk of experiencing a debilitating episode that can cause irreversible brain damage and death.
With your help, this will not be the reality for much longer. Aubrey’s Hope for a Cure is raising money to fund research and bring treatments from labs around the world to bedsides in Canada.
What
is AHC?
For patients, AHC can be like having seven conditions at one time:
-
Paralysis like Stroke.
-
Seizures and spells of reduced consciousness like Epilepsy.
-
Low muscle tone like Cerebral Palsy.
-
Movement problems like Parkinson’s.
-
Neurodegeneration like Alzheimer’s.
-
Behavioral issues like ADHD.
-
Learning challenges like Autism.
